Foreign Nanny & Caregiver Work Permit FAQs

In Turkey, a domestic work permit issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (ÇSGB) serves as both a legal work authorization and a residence permit. The host family (employer) must submit the application online via the e-Devlet portal. First-time permits are typically granted for up to 1 year.

The total cost consists of our consultation and package fees (such as 800 LIRA / month) plus mandatory official government fees. Official government fees include the Ministry evaluation fee and the Valuable Paper / Card fee (Değerli Kağıt Bedeli), which are paid directly to state bank accounts upon application approval.

  • Employer: Must be a Turkish citizen or legal resident, demonstrate a genuine care requirement (such as a child under 15, an elderly family member 65+, or documented medical care needs), and have sufficient income to pay monthly salaries and SGK social security premiums.
  • Caregiver: Must hold a valid passport (valid for at least 60 days beyond the requested permit duration) and either a valid Turkish residence permit or a consular reference code.
  • Domestic Route: If the helper is already in Turkey with a valid residence permit (valid for at least 6 months), the employer applies directly through the Ministry's online portal.
  • Consular Route: If the helper is outside Turkey, they must apply at a Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country to receive a reference code. The employer then uses this code to complete the online submission in Turkey within 10 days.

If employment ends early, the employer must submit an official cancellation request through the Ministry's online system and file an employment exit notification (SGK İşten Ayrılış Bildirgesi) with the Social Security Institution within the legally required timeframes.

Extension applications must be submitted online through the Ministry portal within 60 days prior to the current work permit’s expiration date. Approved extensions are typically granted for up to 2 years with the same employer.
